ya know...

Just read the comment below. That's why I'm amazing. lol

Then again, you are amazing.

wow, that was quick

I like, but I didn't like the higher voice thing. It seems like you shrunk the audio file in FL Studio.

Some things to improve upon:

1) more instruments
2) vary your percussion
3) add a constant bassline in the chorus, that should help some things

to find the right notes, the cheaters way is to google the chords for the song. but with your pitch change, i don't know if you went up a complete octave or two, or you just raised the pitch to who knows what.

lol, yeah, I'm the guy who had that remix. Also, I've got two updates of it, so if you want to check it out, that'd be awesome. I should be submitting it in a few, so look for it on the AP new submissions.

Pretty good for a quick look.

hmm

I had to turn down the volume, and it *shouldn't* be that way.

And this doesn't just apply to DnB. It applies to all genres, and i think you know what I'm talking about: Mastering and EQing a track.

What is happening to this song is that it's peaking the Db, which could be compared to screaming in a library. It's totally unnecessary when outside is a rock concert. Yeah, that's a bad analogy. But that's all I could come up with.

How to fix this:

lower the volume of just about everything, including percussion.

Now that did that, try and decide what is too loud and what is too soft and needs to be brought out more. Don't mess with the master channel, that's the cheater's way out.

Once you do, it'll be a smooth listen. Well, sorta. And I'll give you a higher review score.

instrument used in the beginning: trancegate using Styrus. i know cause i've used it...and everyone else has, but for your first song that's pretty good. here are some things to get and work on.

I'd recommend getting:

1)the full version of FL8. buy it or borrow it from a friend or something.
2) get some high quality VST plugins. a few good ones are:
a)v-station
b)nexus
c)z3ta+
d)hypersonic
3)don't spend less than an hour on a song. and that's on the lower end. some people work on a song for a few months, but i think that's too much. he he.

try to follow these steps and your songs should gradually improve.

Thanks for the review. One question though, do you download Nexus? If you do can you send me a link please? And I have gotten the Full version of FL8 recently.

wow

why a clap loop? What's the point of this?

I LOVE YOU TOO

Yeah, DJ Pinke, I haven't talked to you in forever on AIM or anything. Or heard your stuff.

So, here's my review:

1. Percussion should be louder. Or everything else is too loud. Pick one or the other, I'd say personally that maybe everything else is a little loud and turn up the percussion.

2. I like the bass you chose for this. Also, the depth of the song is nice, and didn't expect that from you.

3. Hmm....later in the song (around 3:50ish) your kick is too loud. It's producing distortion. Maybe choose a different kick or just turn it down on that part.

Overall score:

9/10
5/5
downloaded!

btw, could I possibly have the melody FL Score? I'd like to make a remix of this as well...just wondering. Send me a PM if that's ok. I'm going back to college in a week, so I'll be on AIM more often.

peace,
Derrick

great

Some EQing could be done, but I see that what hard work you put in this paid off. (Top 5).

But yeah, I'm serious about EQing it. It peaked a few times, and it's not my headphones. (I got Pioneer HDJ-1000, w00t!)

Anyways, keep up the good work.

XenoxX responds:

Yeah I still learning how to master songs but I am getting there... Anyways thanks for the review!!

speculation

So, what did you actually do to this song to make it a remix and not just a sped up version of the remix?

I'm just curious.

Do you have the acappella of the vocals and built it? If so, it's a nice remix I must say.

Or, if you took the lazy way and just added a few extra synths, poop on you.

At any rate, please lower the tempo.

Helblinde responds:

Made everything from scratch, had the acapella and built the song after it :)
I wouldn't be able to call myself a producer otherwise.

Thanks for your review, but I wont lower the tempo for now since it's UK Hardcore :)

hmm

It seems to me that you are a beginner of making music. If I'm wrong, I don't mean that as an insult or anything...just that's what it seems to me.

If you can, please get FL Slayer 2. It's a vst, and sounds a lot better than the Slayer you get. I knew what it was when I first played the song. To me, it sounded kinda noobish, but like i said, I'm pretty sure you're newer to this, so please take notes.

You've got a solid song here, but honestly, guitar synths are no place with techno unless you hit gold and find a guitar synth that sounds like someone is actually playing/recording guitar. Go with the styrus vst or surf google for free vsts. I've personally found some nice free vsts on the net.

But, congrats on making top 5 with your song, and keep up the work.

If you have any questions about making electonica, especially with techno and trance, shoot me a PM and I'll do my best to help you out.

Derrick

hmm

I like the sound, but I got some suggestions for this song.

This song sounds way different than what you usually make, which i like with artists. One thing to do later in the song is to have more sounds on the offbeat, sounds a bit more trancey. I know you want the hard techy kinda feel, but to make it more...i don't know, more head-nodding i guess one could call it.

So...yeah. At first i didn't think that it should be under trance, but it's a long stretch to call it that. I'm not an expert of genre-judging, so don't yell at me if i'm completely off or something.

Well, keep making music.

Karco responds:

Hey Derrick!

Yeah, I was trying a different style with this one, that's obvious enough. The "more sounds on the offbeat" thing I wouldn't call a rule though, not if it means hurting creativity (offbeat bass), etc. Though I had a synth playing only on the offbeat throughout, wasn't that enough? ;D

I responded to why I put this under Trance already in a review that's currently at the bottom of the first page (8 reviews between this one and that one). Give it a look if you want to. ;)

Thanks for the review and the high ratings!
