yeah

def just like VNV. The style you sing in is very very similar, so I downloaded it. lol Short and sweet review, don't you gotta love those?

SkyMarshall responds:

VNV, really? Well got to take that as a compliment. And thanks man =)

good work

Good track and i actually listened to all of the track unlike most of NG. Good melody lol nexus. Sorry I had to say it, someone did. Nice epic trance. It's not my style to produce but I like to listen to it, it's a bit too energetic for me to be put into a trance...

Nice perc too. Might just be me but the OHH are up a bit too high. Might just be me. And I mean a slight hair up. Like 2-5% up a bit? And I'm always a guy that the OHH stick out to me.

btw If you get a chance, could you check my stuff? I'm no. 27 off to the left there. lol and that's a good example of what I do. btw at the very end I'm hearing it now and the kick is too bass-y. just a touch. Just sayin if you wanna go back and turn it down a touch. lol Otherwise nice master and EQ. I did have it loud, no distortion. Some good stuff. And it's getting there to pro. :D

ZooSafari responds:

Great review!! Thank you very much brother, this was a really good review, I guess you took your time to make it and so I will with my response:

Yes! I used my baby Nexus, but nope on the melody, the melody was made on Sytrus and the bass on 3xosc on Fruity Loops. I didnt quite get the "too energetic for trance" part....why not?! :P

Thanks for the compliments on the percs, about the open hihats they are supposed to be high right, but idk, maybe you're right, Im gonna try that later and see how it sounds and the kick is just fine ^^

I'll check out your stuff later, thank you again for enjoying!

slwo it down!

The only reasons I'm giving it an 8 is that it's way too fast (like put it to like 136-140 bpm lol) and maybe make the synths not as fast moving, makes me feel rushed, not in a trance...or just take out a few things in teh trancegate.

very interesting...

I would have to say that this track is very well done. Some things seem like they are out of the context volume of the rest of the song. What I'm trying to say is that hwen you bring a few things in, they are lower or louder than the rest of the song, like, outside the norm so much that it sticks out for a few seconds. Maybe if there were more leadup percs, like higher delay cymbals or a bassier hit that would probably do it well. I'm sure you know this, but I just wanted to run that across.

Otherwise, all of the volumes are great, the song has great energy, lol. That's why you named it that way obviously.

Well, one thing that if you were wanting to edit this even a little more is to have a few of those lead synths pan (a ping pong one would be best) a litle bit to make the ears tingle... :)

Keep up the good work man, you'll get my 5's.

Thanks for the great review Derrick! I understand what you mean about the volume spikes and lows. It has to do with the kick and base, overpowering and under powering. I mainly found this was the middle mark. I'll look for new sounds I can add to it and new percussions. Although at the moment my exams start on Monday and today was kind of my like, revise but not so hard day. You know ;)
Tomorrow I gotta study hard. Not really too much time for songs at the moment.
When my holidays start I'll be off making music again for sure. :D

Thanks again!

amazing

Completely amazing. I will 5 this and 10 this all the time. Just for you.

hmm....

What's wrong with producing trance? I can make it pretty good, I think so anyways. Then again, I"m not 12, and I have never mdae it at a college computer...the specs aren't good enough for me...lol

Good remix, what synths did you use for the actual theme?

Absolutely nothing is wrong with producing trance, I'm just sayin there's so much of it on newgrounds, along with little kids posting shit just for the hell of it, not really caring if its good. Thanks for the review/props, and I used garageband horns with a lot of protools EQ/compression.

nice 1 hour song lol

Dude, you know you got my 5s and 10s.

Nice one hour song, I can tell you did it in like one hour. But I'm still impressed that you still put in a few fx. What I'd like is more perc variation, but for only one hour, I'd just leave it be. lol

Keep it up, and I might send you my latest track (it's a dream trance track).

my review...

I just had a preview of your other stuff to see where you've come from and know you've had some time with FL. Some of your stuff is quite impressive compared to how long you were doing it for, but others I'll just say are good "building blocks."

What I would do to this song:

take out the whole hard dance thing, or take out the whole soft part of the song. I mean, it's nice to variate, but it seems like you are putting way too much into this song. Also, the whole soft side to the song could turn into a great trance track, which is more down my alley of expertise, one could say, but I"m not the best one to tell you how to approach this kind of genre, if there could be a labeled genre, like you say above.

Also, the end part of the song kinda seems abrupt and sounds like you just didn't know how to expand this song and kinda just left it off and kept it as a "song."

So, the things that I'd do if you really want the most out of this track:

- Split the hard stuff and the softer stuff into two different tracks. You should then have progressive trance and hard dance. Play with that and see where it takes you both ways, both may get top 5, this one did...

- See about the beginning area. I felt that the distorted instrument in the intro was a bit random and caught me off guard. I wasn't at all expecting it and sorta put me off.

- Make both songs smoother. You don't have to make everything for the ADD impaired. It's nice to have that kind of music, but other people have time to listen to music and kinda take it all in.

- The ending had no apparent path to it, and ended a bit awkward. I felt that you could have expanded on that and made it a bit smoother, kinda like sanding those little details of the almost-finished product.

I've noticed in your review responses that you put two weeks on this. I've personally done songs like that and sometimes the longer you put into a song can actually ruin it. From my personal experience, it definitely helps in almost all situations, but some others it doesn't and just twists your plans for the track.

Keep making music, and I look forward to hearing your stuff in the future.

Derrick

if anything here dones't make sense to you, send me a PM. Thanks.

Ethalyn responds:

Thanks for the review man =)

And about the genres crossing over, i like doing it sometimes. Sometimes i just want to mix ALOT of ideas into one song and just mix it into a long mix. And about the ending, the beat breaks down to the intro, and then gets calmer and calmer and at the end is just drums and bass. A breakdown ending is pretty normal but if it didnt sound right to you i just guess it didnt =P Its like some like the calm part interfearing, and some dont =P Personally i kinda do x) Lol.

And yeah i like speed in my music, if i were to make songs that were repetitive, i think i would have to go for ambient, because in hard dance/hands up - i like to have variaton and lots of ''cool'' stuff =P

But dude, thank you so much for the critisism and the long review, i will definatly keep all those words in mind when making a new song =)

Thanks!

wow

dude, you get my 5s and 10s. lol

So you actually rendered all of it. w00t!

That bass phat man. big and phat. I love it. Also, it was nicely EQed except for a few things that might hit the 0db barrier, but nothing stood out and peaked like crazy.

I might add that it's nice and chillout...I could have recorded myself playing the sax for you ;) . Maybe that'll be the *cough* fourth time. lol

Piano is great as always. Hittin up that reverb, yo. lol

Keep it up man. love it.

CrimzonWolf777 responds:

thx for the review. and yes i did see your IM. Just wasnt home.

I'll think about the sax thing though. lol glad you like it ^_^v

hmm

You modulate your key signature. Please don't. If you are asking me what that is, then you probably should read about it and redo this song. Well, just treat this as a building block. That's what most of my songs are. Building blocks, so when you actually make a song worth while, you can say, well it wasn't overnight...lol

Keep making music, but please read up on that. It's called Music Theory. Musicians should have this before attempting to compose music, otherwise will sound bad to the ears.

DJ Derrick

monk1 responds:

Yeah i got ya... Idk Some sounds go very well with that.... well in my own head they feel that way... I'll try not to...maybe it will help lol :P
Thanks :P
